Model n°01

The project was done in a collaboration with Danish audio brand Bang & Olufsen. The brief asked to imagine new loudspeaker and execute a functional prototype.

Departure point for this speaker was to narrate powerful story in order to improve longevity of the speaker. The story should build and maintain relationship between the user and the product.

The heritage of craftsmanship of Bang & Olufsen was kept always in mind throughout the project.

The story

Back in the days wooden boats were manufactured by true craftsmen with specialisation in different materials. The boats were highly functional, yet beautiful examples of controlling different materials and techniques. The construction involved people working with wood, metal, fabrics, glass, etc. The values of the boats were measured by the name of the builder, how it prospered in racing, how the boat moved in different sea states. But the most important value was immaterial. It was the feeling and connection between the owner and the boat. Boats were hardly handed away or sold, and if they were sold, the buyer was carefully chosen. The new owner had to right attitude towards these beautiful pieces.

The speaker follows the same principles. It has the boat inspired functional structure which also turns into a striking visual language.
