SOAR

The project is a case study figuring out potential answers to questions like; Should the best seats of the yacht be reserved for guests and owners or technology? How to better integrate a yacht for vast openness of the sea and horizon?

Concept design - 3D-model - Visualisations

The concept

Designing the yacht autonomous, meaning no traditional bridge, we can keep the upper deck completely open and create views 360°. In the case of Soar, it felt very important part of the whole design, which is playing around clean horizontal lines and views. We could almost think that the yacht is part of the horizon, with its relatively low appearance and clean lines.

The bridge might be seen as the most closed area on a yacht. By removing that, we set the baseline for the concept which plays with idea of the extreme openness and multifunctional areas. The recent trends (https://www.superyachtnews.com/fleet/immaterial-affluence-a-cultural-shift) in yacht design have said to be the possibility to adjust the space for different activities and ways of spending time. By the extreme openness we wanted to create a platform for this flexibility. For example in aft or bow area, which both are very flexible in terms of functions.

The stern of the yacht triples as huge deck, tender storage/launch or swimming area when the deck is lowered down.
